Here at Wood Dale School District, it is not only our objective to hire the right teachers, but also to develop our teachers throughout their careers. As part of our dedication to staff, we are in the process of developing training sessions on many different subjects in a variety of delivery styles: On-Demand learning, face-to-face, and Google Hangout sessions.
On-Demand Learning
Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, we began delivering screen-casts due to their quick and widespread impact. Screen-casts usually begin in one of two ways:
From a helpdesk perspective--if staff is repeatedly experiencing the same technical issue, we will construct a video for better explanation and for added convenience; or
We will create a quick, proactive video we call a Tech Tip. We are creating a catalog of topics ranging from Gmail features to troubleshooting student devices for delivery to teachers on a weekly basis
Our most sought after training delivery option is still face-to-face facilitation. Having moved from a Microsoft Office & Outlook environment to a Google Apps & Gmail setting, we were ready to provide a total learning transition for both teachers, office staff, and external education professionals.
Below is our current training sessions being offered:
Google Hangout Training Sessions
With virtual learning quickly becoming a learning norm, we decided to offer some Google Hangout training sessions to our staff to gauge their interest. Usually hosted on a unique scheduling day such as parent-teacher conferences, a late arrival, or an event that would keep staff after school like a band concert, Wood Dale School District wanted to provide the opportunity for teachers to learn right from their desktop.
